Neck/fingerboard: Neck/fingerboard: 20 fret fingerboard with pointed end and narrow block inlays from the first fret. Long 25 ½-inch scale length and wide neck heel
Body: 17-inch body with maple back and sides, parallel braced top and large bound f-holes
Hardware: Has original long bound pickguard
Notes: Both the body and neck have been refinished and the pearl inlaid ebony bridge, Super 400 style engraved gold bracket, tuners and tailpiece are not original to the guitar. A short grainline crack alongside the pickguard has been cleated.
“We would assume that this L-5 was originally Sunburst but found no remaining traces of sunburst finish under the newer lacquer,” Joe Vinikow comments.
This guitar is one of 212 Sunburst Advanced L-5s shipped in 1937 (assuming it left the factory with a Sunburst finish)
