Neck/fingerboard: 19 fret fingerboard with square end and wide pearl block inlays from the third fret
Body: Maple back and sides. Appears to have been custom-ordered with a round soundhole rather than the usual f-holes. The interior label specifies the model as ‘Special’
Hardware: Gold-plated metal parts including regular tailpiece and open-back Grover 98G ‘Sta-tite’ tuners with butterbean keys. Ebony bridge and long bound pickguard
Notes: Has original hardshell case with purple lining
Unfortunately, we don’t have the serial number or FON of this guitar but a letter from Gibson, written in the 1980s, identifies it as a custom order, most likely from 1933. Davidson’s Well Strung Guitars adds “In a more recent discussion with Gibson, they advised us that this guitar is one of a kind and dates to 1935”
