
Lynn Wheelwright: “The Super L-5 pictured here is listed in Gibson’s records as having been shipped on June 2nd, 1938. Alvino was deeply into classical guitar at the time, which explains why he ordered the guitar with no fingerboard inlays and 12 frets clear of the body.
“The magazine article above is from Alvino’s scrap book. I have no exact date for it but I would assume it is from the mid 1940’s. I currently own the guitar. It has been repaired and the front has been refinished.”
